      भारत-यूके कैंसर रिसर्च शोध पहल, शोध की ऐसी चुनौतियों की पहचान करेगा जो कैंसर के सस्ते ईलाज, रोकथाम और देखभाल पर आधारित है। इसके लिए भारत और यूके के विशेषज्ञ नैदानिक शोध, भौगोलिक शोध, नई तकनीकें और शरीर विज्ञान पर विशेष ध्यान देंगे।

      इस पहल के लांच के अवसर पर डीबीटी की सचिव डॉ. रेणु स्वरूप ने कहा कि कैंसर एक वैश्विक महामारी है। इससे निपटने के लिए बहु-राष्ट्रीय प्रयासों की आवश्यकता है। भारत यूके कैंसर शोध पहल के तहत भारत और यूके के वैज्ञानिक और शोधकर्ता कैंसर के सस्ते इलाज का समाधान ढूंढेंगे।

      कैंसर रिसर्च, यूके के कार्यकारी निदेशक निक ग्रांट ने कहा कि कोई भी देश कैंसर से अछूता नहीं है। पूरी दुनिया में प्रत्येक वर्ष लाखों लोग कैंसर की चपेट में आते हैं।    कैंसर की चुनौती से निपटने के लिए विश्व के वैज्ञानिकों को साथ मिलकर शोध करने की आवश्कता है।

14-16 नवंबर, 2018 तक नई दिल्ली में आयोजित पहले शोधार्थी सम्मेलन के दौरान भारत-यूके कैंसर शोध पहल का शुभारंभ किया गया। यह सम्मेलन वैज्ञानिकों, शोधार्थियों, चिकित्साकर्मियों, जन स्वास्थ्य विशेषज्ञों आदि को ज्ञान साझा करने तथा परस्पर संवाद करने का अवसर प्रदान करेगा।
